Lance: Can move one square straight forward or diagonally forward. Cannot jump over another piece.

Rook: Can move any number of squares forwards or sideways as long as it does not cross any other pieces. Cannot jump over another piece. Pawn: Can move one square forwards provided that it does not cross any other pieces on its way (it can make a double step if its first step takes it past an opponent's pawn). Once a pawn reaches the end of the board (the last row), it can promote to any other Piece (except for King).
